Introduction

TCL Group is one of the largest consumer electronics enterprises with global scale operation in China. The company has formed five industrial groups, namely multimedia, communication, Huaxing Optoelectronics, TCL home appliances and Kone Electronics, and three business areas, namely product business, service business and venture capital and investment business.

The company was founded in 1981, formerly TTK Home Appliance (Huizhou) Co., LTD., one of the first 13 joint ventures in China, engaged in the production and manufacture of sound recording tapes, and later expanded to telephone, TV, mobile phone, refrigerator, washing machine, air conditioner, small home appliance, LCD panel and other fields. The group has 21 manufacturing bases, with sales organizations in more than 80 countries and regions, with operations in more than 160 countries and regions.

History

In 1981, huiyang Regional Electronics Industry Company was established on the basis of the Electronics Department of Huiyang Regional Machinery Bureau, and TCL began its early pioneering.

In 1985, the sino-Hong Kong joint venture TCL Communication Equipment Co., LTD was established.

In 1986, developed China's first hands-free keypad phone, and established the "TCL" brand through production appraisal.

In 1992, TCL's large-screen color TV was developed and launched into the market. At the same time, we started to introduce CI system and became one of the early state-owned enterprises to implement CIS in China.

In 1993, TCL Electronics (Hong Kong) Co., LTD was established.

In 1993, TCL Communication Equipment Co., Ltd. was listed in Shenzhen Stock Exchange, which was the first domestic communication terminal product enterprise to be listed.

In 1994, the first cordless telephone in China was introduced.

In 1995, TCL corporation was reorganized into three groups: Communication, electronics and Cloud Sky.

In 1999, TCL International Holdings Ltd. went public in Hong Kong.

In 1999, TCL invested in holding Hanlinhui Software Industry Company and entered the information industry on a large scale.

In 2004, TCL Group was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

In 2014, TCL announced an investment of 500 million yuan to start the construction of O2O platform. At the same time, it announced the establishment of TCL Culture media Company to develop content.

On the evening of December 11, 2015, TCL multimedia and letv simultaneously announced that letv invested about 1.871 billion yuan through Letv to its newly established wholly-owned subsidiary in Hong Kong and subscribed for 349 million new TCL multimedia shares at the price of hk $6.5 per share. Upon completion of this investment, letv will hold about 20% of TCL multimedia's shares through Letv and nominate 2 directors to TCL multimedia.

On December 19, 2017, TCL Group announced that the transfer of 49% of TCL Communication's shares had been completed. In addition, Li Dongsheng, chairman of TCL, will also serve as CEO of TCL Communications.

On April 20, 2018, TCL Multimedia announced it would change its English name from TCL Multimedia Technology Holdings Limited to TCL Electronics Holdings Limited and its Chinese name from TCL Multimedia Technology Holdings Limited to TCL Electronics Holdings Limited.

Business

The main industries of the group include the following three business groups:

1. Semiconductor display business group: including China Star Optoelectronics, China Display Optoelectronics (0334.HK0334) and new technologies and business layouts related to semiconductor display business.

2. Smart terminal business group: including TCL Electronics (1070.HK) (including commercial display business), TCL Communication Technology, home appliance Group, and new business layout related to consumer sub-terminals, such as smart home.

3. Emerging business group: overall management of group platform service industry, strategic emerging business and financial control business.

The major assets group plan of the Group has been deliberated and approved by the General meeting of shareholders of the Group on January 7, 2019, and relevant matters are progressing as planned. After the reorganization, the company's main business structure is adjusted into semiconductor display and materials business, industrial finance and investment venture business, and emerging business group, which are set as follows:

1. Semiconductor display and materials business, including Huaxin Optoelectronics, Huaxin Optoelectronics (0334.HK), Guangdong Juhua and Huarui Optoelectronics;

2. Industrial finance and investment creation, including TCL Finance and TCL Capital;

3. Emerging business group, including Hanlinghui, Education Network and environmental protection.
